@jammie_jammie25 he came into the states in 2001. It takes your brain like 12-14 months to fully accustom to a language when fully engulfed in it like he would’ve been. He does interviews in mandarin because he’s from Asia and obviously news articles are gonna be written about him he’s a god and they worship the ground he walks on.
@jannfinzz one problem. He doesn't speak Mandarin due to the fact that he's not Chinese. He speaks Japanese. To respond to the original comment, I met Ichiro. He speaks perfect English. He doesn't want the media to bother him, so he uses a translator. Plus, he wants to use his hometown language to make his hometown fans happy and remember his roots. He also can speak Spanish. He learned it so he can talk shit to everybody. Dude is a legend
@jannfinzz it was pretty awesome. He's the man. Super laid back and humble. I met him in the context of a player, too. I was playing professionally and met him with a bunch of other players. He just bullshit with us for like 45 minutes and gave us advice on how to persevere through to the top. Really awesome experience
